The Fabric
We didn’t find a softer fabric. We wove one.
Our own blend of botanic lyocell fibers, milled to a spec we wrote ourselves and finished with colloidal oat. It exists because nothing on the market was gentle enough.
Why we made it
Every fabric we tested came with a compromise. Cotton felt fine in the shop and rough by hour six. Synthetics trapped heat. The “sensitive skin” options were ordinary cloth with a soft-sounding label stitched on.
So we stopped shopping and started specifying. SkinSmart™ is built from botanic lyocell — a fiber regenerated from wood pulp, spun smooth and round rather than flat and irregular the way cotton grows. Lyocell has been shown to sit against skin with less friction and to pull moisture into the fiber core instead of holding it at the surface. We took that fiber, set our own yarn count and knit density, and had it milled to order.
The build
Regenerated from responsibly harvested wood pulp in a closed-loop process that recovers and reuses its solvent. The fiber comes out fine, round and uniform — not the flat, irregular ribbon cotton grows as.
We didn’t pick this off a mill’s catalogue. We set the yarn count, the knit density and the structure ourselves, then had it made to order. Nobody else has this cloth.
Milled oat is bonded in at the finishing stage rather than sprayed on at the end, so it survives the wash cycle instead of rinsing away in a month.
Pre-washed and pre-shrunk before it ships. The softness is structural — it comes from the fiber itself, not a coating that wears off.

Fiber to finish
Wood pulp from certified, responsibly managed forests.
Pulp is dissolved and extruded into fiber in a closed-loop system that captures the solvent for reuse.
Yarn is knit to our own density and structure spec on a dedicated run.
Colloidal oat bonded in, then washed and pre-shrunk so it arrives broken in.
